3 houses Volče

The project comprises three single-family houses located in the village of Volče in the Soča Valley. The design is based on the simple and recognizable archetype of the pitched-roof house, a typology characteristic of the local building tradition. All three houses follow the same architectural principle, where the repetition of the primary volume creates a calm and coherent spatial composition within the settlement. The architecture is defined by clear volumes and a restrained material palette. White plastered façades are complemented by wooden façade elements that articulate specific parts of the houses while establishing a dialogue with the surrounding landscape and the traditional construction methods of the region. Large glazed openings on the garden side open the living spaces towards the exterior and allow a direct visual connection with the surrounding landscape. Despite the shared architectural concept, the houses differ in their interior atmospheres. In two of the houses, the interior design was developed as part of the project. While the spatial organization remains the same, the interiors differ in materiality and character. One house is defined by darker tones combined with the natural texture of oak, creating a warm and more intimate atmosphere. The other is designed in lighter tones, emphasizing brightness and simplicity, resulting in a more airy and Scandinavian-inspired character. The project explores the relationship between the repetition of an architectural typology and the individuality of domestic space, where a unified exterior identity allows for diverse interior interpretations of living.
