tiny house Čiginj

Located in the village of Čiginj near the Soča Valley, the project explores the spatial potential of a compact residential unit. The design focuses on creating a generous and functional living environment within a limited footprint through careful spatial organization and a restrained material palette. The interior is conceived as a continuous living space where the kitchen, dining area, and living room are visually connected. Subtle level changes introduce spatial hierarchy within the open plan: the dining area is placed on a slightly elevated platform, which defines the zone while also integrating additional storage within the structure. This simple architectural gesture allows the space to remain open while organizing different domestic functions. Large window openings bring natural light deep into the interior and establish a strong visual connection with the surrounding landscape. The relationship between interior and exterior plays an important role in amplifying the perception of space, making the small dwelling feel more expansive. Materiality is intentionally calm and tactile. Light wood surfaces, neutral textiles, and warm earth tones create a soft and welcoming atmosphere throughout the living spaces. In contrast, the bathroom introduces a more expressive stone material that gives the space a stronger character while maintaining the overall natural palette of the project. The interior furniture is designed as a series of integrated built-in elements that maximize functionality while maintaining a clear and minimal architectural language. Clean lines and continuous surfaces allow the space to remain visually uncluttered despite its compact dimensions. The project demonstrates how thoughtful spatial composition, subtle level shifts, and carefully selected materials can transform a small footprint into a comfortable and contemporary living environment.
